YLSN is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization registered in Maryland. Your donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.

For over ten years as an all-volunteer intergenerational network, YLSN has worked with more than 20,000 youth, primarily youth in DC neighborhoods and suburbs. Many others have travelled to Washington and included YLSN in their inteneraries. Our images have circled the nation and world in major media and youth2youth networks.

Our primary financial support for mentors has been from partners who contract YLSN for workshops, trainings, performances, festivals and other special events. After a decade of experiences, we are still hopeful for basic seed funding. It hasn't stopped us successfully piloting each and every aspect of our programs (often with zero funding), being responsive to the needs of our communities and partners, and pursuing peace, around the block and around the world.

For ten years, our primary funding need has been to hire at least part-time staff to reach a level of operational capability so the sum of the parts adds up to a whole.

Our need is to raise at least $7200 to guarantee six months of funding for staff, $1200 per month. This may seem like a lot to some, a little to others, but for YLSN it is the difference between mentors focussing on their own needs or YLSN organizational development. Our goal is to reach an annual budget of between sixty and one hundred thousand dollars. We have done so much, with so little, for so long.....we need your support as we enter our second decade.
